Friendswith began as a small group of individuals who shared a passion for making the Internet safe for our children. As part of Ontheline.com, Friendswith solves the problems of social media. It is a community of children and teens that connects members with each other in a safe and private manner.
At Friendswith, our mission is to provide digital lifestyle platforms for children, teens, and adults that bring out the best in people, help solve common day-to-day challenges, and facilitate better communication, friendships, and understanding between members.
Friendswith is a safe space for children, where kids can enjoy being kids, away from sexual predators and violence. It's a place for teens to safely communicate with friends, family members, teachers, coaches, and clubs, away from bad actors. It also gives young people the tools they are not getting in public education, from ways to select the right post-high school career, college or trade school, to learning about finances, to leading healthier lives.
The team behind Ontheline began working on Friendswith in 2016 when we saw the negative effects of social media on young people. We launched the platform in 2019 and since then have been fine-tuning it through the advice and feedback of over 300,000 members.
With its focus on communications, education, age appropriate entertainment, civics and social learning, Friendwith provides children and teens a safer online environment than currently offered by Meta’s Facebook and Instagram and ByteDance’s TikTok. It teaches minors how to properly utilize technologies, protect their privacy and self-interest, avoid scams, reduce bullying, all while preventing bad actors and negative influences from causing harm.
Parents and legal guardians must be members of Ontheline and authenticate their identity and the identity of their children.
We match sexual offender databases and identifying offenders and give parents the ability to block any access or connection to those individuals.
In addition, Friendswith has rigorous rules to prevent age inappropriate advertising to young children—such as clickable ads, instead opting for branding and sponsorships at modest visibility rates, slowly offering more advertising as children become teens and even more at age 16-18. This process gradually brings advertising in front of children, preparing them for when they turn 18 and are inundated with ad messages across the Internet and traditional media.
At age 18 (or the legal adult age in the nation we operate), a child’s Friendswithaccount converts to an Ontheline account.
Friendswith will launch to the public in late 2024 and you can sign up now to be included in the first group of people invited to join.
